Atyopsis moluccensis




Apperance: They are brown with bright belt among the ridge. Two first pairs of legs are equipped in hairy "umbrellas" which are being used to filter food from water.
Origin:South-east Asia.
Size:Males to 10 cm, females to 6 cm
Water conditions:24 - 30 C.
Tank layout:lots of hiding places, especially coconut shells, roots or bamboos. It is important to give a big water movement in which aye gabbiness likes to filter micro food from water.
Food:- Plankton, dead animals, they can be feed with artificial aliments which they can pick up from the tank bottom or with very small aliments imitating water "junk.
Breeding:Larvae stadium. Female carries hundrets of eggs for about 3 weeks. Larvaes need salt water to evolve. According to www.wirbellose.de nobody succeeded yet in breeding them.




Aquarium for these shrimps should be at least 60 cm long. It's a peaceful shrimp and aggressive company is a very bad idea.
Extremely long living shrimp - it might reach even 12 years.
